Overview

This course is designed to achieve the general objectives in the form of outputs that the student is supposed to acquire after successful completion of the course, as follows:· Study of sedimentary facies and their vertical and horizontal changes.· Study of depositional environments.· Study and identify sequences of basic sedimentary rocks in the field and analyze them.

Intended learning outcomes

By passing this course, the student is supposed to be familiar with the following practical and professional skills: 1. The student uses the polarized microscope in the study and division of sedimentary rocks.2.The student uses optical methods in classifying sedimentary rocks, analyzes field and laboratory data, and deduces sedimentary environments.3.The student appreciates the importance of obtaining accurate field data in the study of sedimentation, rocking and mutation processes.
