Overview

Tectonic control on sedimentation, major orogenic events through time, effect of orogenies on the evolution of the sedimentary basins. Sedimentological data base, correlation, mapping, facies models, classification, and evolution of sedimentary basins of Libya. Study of international key examples.

Intended learning outcomes

By passing this course, the student is supposed to be familiar with the following practical and professional skills:1. Gain experience in analyzing sedimentary basin data.2.Appreciates the importance of tectonic control of sedimentation.3. Collects the necessary information from the surface and under the surface in a four-dimensional model.4. Observes destructive processes that stop sedimentation or deformation of sediments resulting from global movements.
