Overview

This course deals with microtectonics. Microscale structural fabrics in metamorphic rocks. Deciphering structural and metamorphic events from thin-sections. Shear zone tectonics and cataclastic microfabrics, stress quantification. Shock deformation and metamorphism. Microstructural indicators of stress. Chemical changes accompanying deformation.

Intended learning outcomes

This course is designed to achieve the general objectives in the form of outputs that the student is supposed to acquire after successfully completing the course, as follows:1. The student plans to study the deformation by determining the directions of cutting the rock slides.2. Evaluates published data and uses computational methods to reinforce results and conclusions.3. The student uses the microscope efficiently.4. Plans, conducts or supervises field and laboratory studies.

Teaching and learning methods

The course is taught according to the following methods and processes:· Lectures· Laboratory activities· Collection of information· Panel Discussions

Methods of assessments

Assessment was carried out through theoretical exams, practical exams, assignments and writing scientific reports.
