Overview

Geophysical and the internal composition of the Earth, rheological properties the mantle. Determination of displacements, stress and gravitational potential induced by surface loads, internal mass anomalies and dislocations. Temporal variations of gravity field and applications. Average sea level variations induced by instability in the cryosphere and plate tectonics. Static crustal deformations induced by earthquakes.

Intended learning outcomes

This course is designed to achieve the general objectives in the form of outputs that the student is supposed to acquire after successfully completing the course, as follows:1. Collects the necessary information from under the earth's crust, an integrated model of the internal structure of the earth.2. The student notes the tectonic and destructive processes of the earth's crust and their relationship to the composition of the mantle.3. Explain the inhomogeneous gravitational behavior and its relationship to the structure of the Earth.4. Gain experience in interpreting geophysical data.

Teaching and learning methods

The course is taught according to the following methods and processes:· Lectures· Laboratory activities· Collection of information· Panel Discussions

Methods of assessments

Assessment was carried out through theoretical exams, practical exams, assignments and writing scientific reports.
