Overview

This course provides the student with knowledge of the main principles of geoengineering, assessment of rock quality through rock core, classifications of multiple rock masses (TARZAGHI ROCK LOAD, RMR, Q-SYS,) studying the types of rock and landslides (level collapse, circular collapse, valley collapse, rock precipitation) Through these topics, the student will be able to assess the quality of the rock blocks and their eligibility for the construction of subsurface projects, as well as the solutions that can be applied to raise the efficiency of these blocks.

Intended learning outcomes

Outcomes of the course:

  • Knowledge of application of geoengineering principles Understanding the stress, strain and failure mechanisms of rocks and their response to earth stresses can lead to enormous economic benefits at all stages of engineering project development.
  • Science and systems for classifying rock masses as an important technology capable of reducing financial risks in drilling operations and the stability of rock masses, which is a vital tool for decision-making regarding drilling and supporting systems.
  • The student's ability to know and compare the factors affecting the collapse of the magic and dirt blocks and how to deal with them
  • Identify the types of collapses in the rock and earth masses and how to develop appropriate solutions..
