Overview

Knowledge of common clay minerals and their properties and uses in industry. Separation and textural preparation of clay samples to investigate their type and properties. Clay mineral Alteration and digenesis.

Intended learning outcomes

  • Outcomes of the course:

    · Linking the use of clay minerals as industrial rocks and their natural properties. As well as the connection between the different techniques for the study of clay minerals and to distinguish the structural texture of samples of pure clay minerals.

    · The student distinguishes between the transformational processes that occur in clay minerals and the production of new minerals from them.

    · The student uses XRD and DTA techniques to identify clay samples.

    · Equal transcripts for each of the students in equal transcripts.

    · The student to use the technical pad in the study of different clay minerals

The student obtains information resulting from the transformational processes that occur in clay minerals and their consequences
