GEOE 592 : Slope Stability

Overview

This course provides guidance for analyzing the static stability of soil and rocky slopes, and the different types of slopes. Methods for analyzing slope stability are described and illustrated with examples and case studies. Standards for strength tests, analysis conditions and safety factors are presented by:

  • • Understanding of the general approach to slope stability analysis
  • • Learn about analytical methods and applications for soil stability, including evaluation of computer programs

  • • Learn about practical methods for checking, evaluating and enhancing slope stability

Intended learning outcomes

Outcomes of the course:

  • Understand the major movements of instability that may occur on slopes.
  • Ability to perform geotechnical properties and slope design.
  • Knowledge of different types of devices used in geotechnical works.
  • Ability to set up hardware plans and define reading programs.
  • Interpretation of geotechnical data and results tools.
  • Application of knowledge and ability to adapt to situations that occur in geotechnical works.
