Prerequisite

Overview

Introducing the student to the concepts of heat, thermal equilibrium, expansion, phase change and latent heat. Knowing the methods of heat transfer and linking them to reality. Studying the properties of ideal gas and the kinetic theory of gases. Developing the student's skills to understand the first law of thermodynamics and how heat is transferred between different bodies and materials. Study the properties of fluids at rest and motion.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:

1. Finds out the properties of fluids at rest and motion states.

2. Determines the properties of an ideal gas and the kinetic theory of gases.

3. Interprets the concepts of heat, thermal equilibrium, expansion, phase change, and latent heat.

4. Applies heat transfer methods and relate them to reality.

5. Communicates with colleagues and works as a team.

6. Develops problem-solving abilities.

Teaching and learning methods

· Lectures.

· Discussion and dialogue.

· Tutorials and exercises.

Methods of assessments

The methods of evaluating students in this course are distributed as follows:

o Semester works (40 marks) are divided as follows:

· First written exam (objective questions and problem) (15 marks).

· Second written exam (objective questions and problem) (15 marks).

· Scientific activities (e.g. weekly tests, reports discussion) (10 marks).

o Final: written exam (60 marks).
