Overview

This course aims to introduce students to African literary works, as well as teach students how to identify and analyze figurative language and figures of speech, compare and contrast literature from different cultures and identify themes in different literary works.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the 14th week, the student should be able to:
  • Present a survey of African literature
  • Identify different topics from a very wide variety.
  • Develop strategies for appreciating literary works.
  • Develop fluency and encourage reading for pleasure
