Overview
This course aims to introduce students to the latest computer tools and translation software. Providing practical applications of terminology, including building and managing terminology databases. The focus in this course is on three main topics: Corpus generation, website localization, and building databases. The course also aims to acquaint students with the theories of computer-based language teaching and various educational technologies in general, and to train students to deal with different technologies, whether computers or projectors, or distance education media, and making practical use of them in teaching and learning languages.
Intended learning outcomes
By the end of the 12th week, the student should be able to:
• Presenta apply how to manage translation with computer aided technology
• Present the theoretical and practical aspects of computer translation
• To use examples of computer and Internet translation techniques
• Introduce the latest technologies available worldwide
• To use TM technology in the right way.
• To use computers and smartphones to search for information.
• To use electronic learning resources such as electronic dictionaries, encyclopedias, and the automatic translator, and their role in language learning and translation
• Acquire a sufficient experience in the use of this multimedia in learning the language after graduation.
Teaching and learning methods
Lecture, explanation and examples in the classroom.
A theoretical presentation and then application on the computer aided software and skills that can be used, accompanied by real examples and practical exercises carried out by the student.
