Overview

This course is concerned with introducing the student to the principles of Parasitology, based on identifying the development and reproduction of parasites, the geographical distribution of parasites and their pathogenic effect

Intended learning outcomes

The student mentions the different types of parasites and their modes of transmission1-

Explain the immune responses associated with parasite infection-

-Recognize the scientific and common name and the disease that causes it by simply seeing its shape in the laboratory

List the general classifications of parasites and methods of dividing them-

-Compare the different life cycles of a parasite and the infectious stages by drawing the parasite and the different stages of parasite development

The relationships between objects. The relationship between host and parasite-

Enumerate blood, intestinal and skin parasites-

Teaching and learning methods

-Lectures and presentations using Power Point and documentaries supporting the lecture

-A quarterly visit to the Center for Disease Control to learn about methods of detecting all parasites

-Panel discussions Some presentation of each assigned student at the end of the last part of each lecture

Methods of assessments

semester work 40% and final 60%

Term work: divided between written midterm exams, a first written exam (multiple-choice style {closed book} or an exam

Written closed-question style {open book} or a combination) 20 marks 2 discussion sessions for each student 10 marks and 10 midterms

My final practical work is 10 marks and the theoretical final is 50 marks
