Overview

This course is concerned with introducing the student to vertebrates, their general characteristics, taxonomic status, and characteristics, with a detailed study of some of the different classes, identifying the origin and development of living organisms, the functions of organs, the development of various systems, some vital activities, and some structural characteristics of this group, and highlighting the economic importance

Intended learning outcomes

The student distinguishes between different geological times

The student will learn about the emergence of chordates and vertebrates and the characteristics of each

The student determines the scientific and common name of most of the vertebrate animals that he studies

The student lists the general classifications of vertebrates

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures and presentations via Power Point and documentaries supporting the lecture-

-Practical lessons in the laboratory by examining preserved samples or by showing and discussing documentaries on the practical subject

A visit to the Science Museum to learn about anthropomorphic vertebrates-

-Panel discussions and a report assigned to students

Methods of assessments

semester work 40% and final 60%

Term work: divided between written midterm exams, assignments and assignments

Written final exam
