University of Tripoli Signs Cooperation Agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
The President of the University of Tripoli, Prof. Khaled Oun, received on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, a high-level delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), headed by Mr. Abdallah Al Dardari, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Regional Director for Arab States. He was accompanied by Ms. Sophie Kemkhadze, UNDP Resident Representative in Libya, and Mr. Mohamed Saleh, Deputy Resident Representative.During the visit, a cooperation agreement was signed between the University of Tripoli and UNDP, aiming to support sustainable development initiatives and to enhance the university’s capabilities in research, innovation, and institutional capacity-building—contributing to community service and advancing Libya’s development goals.The discussions also addressed ways to strengthen educational institutions and integrate artificial intelligence technologies into academic and administrative processes through regional and international partnerships facilitated by UNDP, thereby improving institutional performance and modernizing the university’s digital infrastructure.Both parties further discussed the potential engagement of senior and retired university professors in academic and scientific consulting activities, utilizing their extensive experience to support UNDP-led development programs in collaboration with the University of Tripoli.In his remarks during the signing ceremony, Prof. Khaled Oun emphasized the university’s commitment to expanding cooperation with international organizations, particularly those focused on development and capacity building, describing this agreement as an important step toward aligning the university with national and international development projects.For his part, Mr. Abdallah Al Dardari praised the academic and research role of the University of Tripoli, affirming UNDP’s readiness to support the university’s initiatives and projects that contribute to human and economic development in Libya.The signing ceremony was attended by:Prof. Khaled Ghouma, Vice President for Academic Affairs,Prof. Radwan Hussein, Director of the International Cooperation Office,and Dr. Abdusalam Nwesri, Director of the Research and Consulting Center,along with representatives from relevant institutions.
