Abstract

The book presents a study of some aspects of the sound system (phonology) of the Quran in terms of syllabic analysis, focusing on the specifications of verse final syllable, and also the effects of the application of phonological rules to verse final position. The general theme that unites the body of the book is the level of the analysis within which all of the issues are dealt with. This level is the syllable level. One purpose of this work is to show that in the context of phonology there are some harmonized parameters characterizing the language of the Quran, and distinguishing it in one way or another from other languages, and these harmonized aspects can be seen only through a syllabic perspective.
