Abstract

Abstract: Nile Tilapia fish (Orechromis niloticus) was feeding on diets containing varying percent of soybean meal alternative to fish meal at level of 0%, 10% 20%, 30% for one month diets was isonitrogenous iscaloric, percent weight gain, feed conversion value and protein efficiency ratio were determind at the end of the feeding trial. The percent weight gain of the nile tilapia fish fed on diets containing soyabean meal at levels of 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% were respectively, 48.95%, 28.62%, 31,20 and 41.65%, while feed Conversion Values were, 2%, 2.1%, 2.7% and 2.20% respectively for the four diets. The values of protein efficiency ratios were, 1.56, 0.87, 1.7 and 0.97 respectively for the four diets. Results of statistical analysis showed no significant differences (P=0.05) between feed conversion value and protein efficiency ratio for the four diets, while showed significant differences ney (P=0.05) between % weight gain for the four diets. The results of this study indicate that it is feasible to substitute Soybean meal with fish meal in nile tilapia diets at level %30 without having a determental effect on % weight gain, feed conversion value and protein efficiency ratio
