The Barley harvest is considered one of the most important cereals harvest that is mostly planted in Libya. Its convenience to the environment and its relationship to the plantation and food culture of the Libyans. The study has considered the main aspects of current situation of Barley plantation, by studying the most crucial economical factors that influence the production of the barley. It was found the production of barley increased from 52,8 thousand tons in 1970 to about 262,9 thousand tons in 2002, which was the result of the increase in the productivity from 0.244 ton/h to 1.15 ton/h. in 2001. despite the decrease of the harvested areas during the same period. Moreover the value of the price elasticity of supply is found inelastic for short and long-run, which indicate the low response of local production and supply to the changes in price, despite the relative price between barley and wheat which was the most important factor affecting barley supply response.
