Abstract

Evasive maneuvers are intentionally designed to break tracking and degrade guidance effectiveness. This study investigates the defensive potential of the High-G Barrel Roll (HGBR) maneuvers against missiles guided by proportional navigation (PN). PN, widely adopted method in missile guidance, continuously modifies the missile’s flight path by responding to the rate of change in the line-of-sight (LOS) angle between the missile and target [1]–[3]. While this guidance law is effective for non-maneuvering or predictably moving targets, its performance can degrade when the target executes abrupt, high-energy evasive actions [4], [7]. In this research, a dynamic simulation is developed to examine how H-GBR maneuvers influence interception outcomes under different navigation constants.
