Abstract

The aim of the present study was to synthesize and investigate the pharmacological activity of some α N-Phthalimido derivatives of amino acids. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by physical and spectroscopic analyses. All compounds were evaluated in vivo for analgesic and antiepileptic activities using standard experimental models. One compound demonstrated significant analgesic activity in the hot-plate test, while several compounds significantly delayed the onset of picrotoxin-induced seizures and showed anticonvulsant activity. The findings suggest that some of the synthesized derivatives may have promising analgesic and antiepileptic potential.
