Abstract

Writing a research project is very basic assignment and necessary step in order for EFL undergraduate students to graduate from the English Department at the Faculty of Education. The process overall focuses on the students’ academic attainment and prepares them for field work. However, the EFL undergraduate students are confronting a lot of difficulties while taking this step at the Faculty of Education in Janzour. Therefore, the researchers aimed to highlight those common difficulties that most undergraduates face through the writing of their graduation projects. Also offer some useful recommendations based on the findings. Furthermore, the researchers used a quantitative approach to collect numerical data to describe the problem of the research. This project was designed for a descriptive study to investigate the undergraduate students’ opinions about the difficulties they faced in writing their own graduation projects. Therefore, the participants were students from the department who are studying in the final semester. The researchers utilized an adapted questionnaire from a previous study which originally consisted of 31 questions, and modified it to suit the sample of the study and downsized it to 14 questions. 42 participants answered the structured questionnaire online because the researchers employed an online Google form. Moreover, according to the results of the questionnaire, the data analysis confirmed that the undergraduate students indeed face many difficulties in writing their graduation projects. Furthermore, the foremost difficulty which most of the participants dealt with was the structuring of sentences academically, also they found a certain level of difficulty within the overall preparation and conducting of their RGP.
