NSAIDs are a family of drugs that have achieved widespread use in sports medicine in both prescription and over-the counter (OTC) forms. NSAIDs are often administered after acute soft tissue injury in an effort to reduce pain and inflammation and thus speed an injured athlete's return to competition.
