Abstract
Assessment is a major component of the educational system throughout the different learning teaching stages, and very often learners, especially in the advanced levels, do complain from unfairness of their teachers while evaluating their written or verbal performance. The researchers of this study try to investigate the assessment fairness of the teachers’ perceptions. This study took place in the English department at the faculty of education Janzour. It investigates the teachers’ opinions about the way they assess their students and to what extent they think their assessment is fair or not. Twenty-one teachers participated in this study by responding to seventeen (17) questions in the questionnaire. They were asked to tick ( ) the appropriate slide in the table of the questionnaire. They, also, were kindly asked to answer some questions. The data was analysed using frequencies and percentages. The study shows the teachers’ evaluation of their students and how much these teachers consider their students’ performance. The study concludes with some recommendations to help improving assessment strategies followed by teachers.
