Overview

This course:

  • Discuss the different lipid classes and their structures, functions, and structures.
  • Discuss the biomedical importance of enzymes, their catalytic activity, regulation, and their deficiency.
  • Discuss the importance and biological roles of vitamins and coenzymes.
  • Discuss plasma proteins and immunoglobulin.
  • Discuss nutrition and body fluids.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the chemistry of lipids and their physiological importance.
  • Explain how enzymes increase biochemical reactions, and the role of coenzymes and cofactors.
  • Understand the chemistry, biosynthesis, and clinical importance of vitamins.
  • Understand the importance of nutrition and body fluids.
