Overview

This course aims to:1) To recognize the nature and properties of organic metal compounds of basic and transitional elements, the basis for their classification and methods of preparation.2) Understanding the theoretical foundations of the 18-electron rule and the effective atomic number and its applications3) Understanding redox reactions, addition reactions, and reduction reactions4) Identify the nature of the bonding in the complexes of the organic metal compounds of the transition elements and compare them with the different reactions, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, and the preparation of carbides.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge & understandingA.1 Giving students the basic concepts of the chemistry of organic metal compounds of basic and transitional elements, and this makes them more understanding and knowledge of the importance of these elements in our lives.A.2 The ability to classify organic metal compounds and find and interpret evidence.A.3 Develop students' ability to be self-reliant in solving problems they encounter while studying this course and other courses related to this course.A.4 Follow-up skill in arranging and organizing homogeneous and heterogeneous stimulus.B. Mental skillsB.1 The student should distinguish between the organic metal compounds of the main elements and the transitional elements and use the appropriate solvent and a group of different connections such as (CO, NO, PPh3 and ...... etc.).B.2 The ability to prepare and construct carbonyl cluster complexes of transition elements and apply the rule of 18 electrons to them.B.3 Studying and understanding how to link a group of contacts that donate more than one electron and their interaction with the salts of the transitional elements.B.4 To apply the reactions of oxidative addition and reductive deletion in the preparation of catalysts and their use in the preparation of organic compounds, including aldehydes, alcohols, ketones, alkanes and other organic materials.c. Practical & professional skillsC.1 The student should possess scientific skills with some important properties of each of the basic and transition metals involved in the composition of organic metal compounds.C.2 That the student possesses the scientific skill in explaining the stability and instability of cluster compounds by doing the electronic counting calculation and applying the 18e rule.C.3 The student should have complete scientific knowledge of a group of connections involved in the structure of organic metal compounds, including carbonyl, nitrocellulosphine, nitrogen, hydrogen, and pi (π) connections for alkenes that donate 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 electrons.C.4 Assigning the student to conduct research using the Internet and modern technology.Dr. Generic and transferable skillsD.1 The student acquires the skill of classifying basic and transitional compounds and metals involved in the composition of organic metal compounds.D.2 Students acquire the scientific inclination to make some scientific models and the inclination to scientific reading and following up what is newly published about scientific progress.D.3 Studying the properties of the reactants and products by reviewing periodic scientific research.D.4 The skill of collective collaborative work and the use of modern technology in writing reports or scientific research.
