Overview

v The course aims to introduce the student to the methods of translation and the disadvantages and advantages of these methods.

v Introducing the student to the problems that occur during the translation process due to the difference in the two languages.

v Knowledge of English and Arabic grammar and how to translate

A.1

The ability to translate grammar to and from Arabic, taking into account the difference of the two languages and understanding the problems that the translator may face due to the difference

Ability to understand idiomatic expressions and developments in all languages and how to translate them

A.3

Understand the cultural differences of both Arabic and English and avoid problems that occur during the translation process

A.4

Knowledge of metaphorical language, the ability to translate it, its importance in literary texts and how to translate it

Understand proverbs, aphorisms, verbal syndromes, abbreviations, and the difference in style between the two languages

The student solves problems related to the grammar of the source and target language

The student distinguishes the difference in the culture of the two languages

The student compares the uses of verbal syndromes in Arabic and English and knowledge of proverbs and sayings found in the two cultures and the ability to translate them

The student distinguishes between the eloquent and colloquial style when reading the text before the translation process to correct the errors that may occur due to confusion between the two styles

The student knows how to translate the perfect time that does not exist in the Arabic language as well as abbreviations and novelties
