Overview

  • in this course:
  • Discuss the most common diseases in general medicine by interpreting the most important symptoms and signs of common diseases.
  • Interpret patient’s data in an organized and informative manner, makes deferential diagnoses and ability to make single diagnoses and exclude other deferential diagnoses.
  • Discuss the most important laboratory diagnostic tests to set up a priority based action plan for common diseases.
  • Formulate management plane for common disease.
  • Analyze different factors that help in prevention of diseases as well as eradication measures. Discuss the causes, clinical symptoms, signs, and management plan of most important psychiatric diseases.
  • Discuss the clinical presentation of the most common dermatological diseases.
  • Analyze management plans of the most common dermatological diseases.
  • Discuss emergency and critical conditions and formulate appropriate management plans for individual patients.

Intended learning outcomes

  • By the end of the course, the student will be able to:- -
  • Understand the different diseases in all systems of the body, in relation to internal medicine, in the light of knowledge already acquired in anatomy, pathology, physiology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
  • - Acquire competent knowledge and skills in obtaining comprehensive problems –oriented history, performing complete physical examinations, and demonstrating problem-solving skills in pathophysiologic derangements to specific disease entities.
  • - Introduce students with appropriate knowledge and practical to suggest the proper line of investigations to reach a diagnosis after enlisting relevant differential diagnoses.
  • - Discuss a plan of management including the most appropriate prescribed medications, their pharmacology, indications, dosage, side effects, and toxic effects. -
  • Recognize the complications associated with the disease process.
