Overview

This course deals with one of the levels of translation, which is “theoretical and practical.” Through it, the student studies how to classify translation problems, the differences in systems and culture between the two languages in terms of grammar and vocabulary, solving them, translating proverbs and riddles, learning about political texts, and the basics of simultaneous translation. After completing the theoretical part of the course, he moves on. The student advances to the practical application stage by translating simple political texts and simultaneous translation in a miniature form.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the 14th week, the student should be able to:

• use the foundations of translation to translate various works
• Understand translation problems in general.
• Know and solving problems of the difference in culture and systems between the two languages.
• Know and identifying political texts and translating them.
• Simultaneous translation.

Teaching and learning methods

• Theoretical lectures
• Participation among students and solving periodic exercises.
• Continuous exercises and duties.
• Periodic tests to determine the student's level.

Methods of assessments

• Partial exam: 20 marks
• Classwork in groups of 10 marks
• Discussion sessions: 10 marks
• Final exam: 60 marks.
