Overview

This course deals with one of the levels of translation, which is “the theoretical and the practical,” through which the student studies how to classify translation problems, the differences in systems and culture between the two languages in terms of grammar and vocabulary, solving them, translating proverbs and riddles, learning about political texts, and the basics of simultaneous translation. After completing the theoretical part of the course, the student moves to the practical application stage by translating simple political texts and simultaneous translation in miniature.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the 14th week, the student should be able to:
  • use the foundations of translation to translate various works
  • Understand translation problems in general.
  • Know and solving problems of the difference in culture and systems between the two languages.
  • Know and identifying political texts and translating them.
  • Simultaneous translation.
