The aim of including this course is to highlight
the role of the geographical student and his relationship to the environment
and who has been studying diseases, because the study of health and disease
specifically concerns doctors, workers and assistants, but from the point of
view of geographers, there is a need to expand the study from the scope of the
human body to the social and environmental content that directly and indirectly
affects human health, here we find that geography has the primary role in terms
of the environment and human interaction in terms of geographical
interpretations of the emergence of the disease And its spread, there are
certain diseases in specific environments where they provide the appropriate
climate for them, schistosomiasis is found where stagnant water, malaria in the
tropical environment hot humid, and Mediterranean fever, and it is confirmed
the fact that a disease is largely associated with a specific area characterized
by specific environmental conditions. Medical geography asserts that it is the
science that is concerned with the search for geographical explanations for the
emergence of diseases. Thus, they represent the link between the social
sciences on the one hand and the biomedical sciences on the other, so that they
serve each other, without either of them going beyond the limits of its
specialization. It is a vivid and tangible application of geographical
approaches and methods in the study of health, disease and health care systems
Intended learning outcomes
Through his study of medical geography, the
student acquires several skills, including that it reflects on his behavior by
caring for the environment and preserving it from pollution, improving physical
and mental health and positively interacting with the health problems he
faces... Such as the prevention of health problems that he may be exposed to.
And also translate information, trends and values into realistic abilities used
in dealing with different life situations. One of the most important skills is
that diseases can be overcome by knowing their secrets and avoiding the causes
of their occurrence because reducing the spread of the disease is easier than
treating it, and that salvation from the disease and reducing the risk lies in
educating people and educating them about health through our students
Teaching and learning methods
It includes lectures followed by panel discussions
because the material is attached to the individual and his daily life due to
the environment's stimulating factors for diseases. It is often a mixture between
several methods of teaching according to the topic at hand and its vocabulary,
and it is difficult to rely on e-learning in light of the current circumstances
of power cuts and weak Internet signal in particular for students who live in
places far from services in general
Methods of assessments
It includes 40 marks for the midterm exam divided
between them and the worksheets, 20 marks for each.
60marks for the final
written exam in order to follow in the same footsteps of the college and not to
confuse students in a different style
