Overview

This course is concerned with knowing the foundations and concepts of electrostatics and translating these concepts into mathematical laws and relationships by covering a range of topics represented in Coulomb’s law, electric field strength, Gauss’s law, capacitors, Ohm’s law, electric current circuits, and their analysis methods.

Intended learning outcomes

By studying this course the student will be able to:

1- Coulomb's law is used.

2- It connects the concept of electric field and electric force.

3- Calculate the electric field.

4- Calculate the electric potential and electric potential energy of point charges and connected charge distributions.

5- Calculate the electrical capacitance of different types of capacitors.

6- Analyze electrical circuits using Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's law.

Teaching and learning methods

  1. Lectures.
  2. Solve problems and discuss various exercises.

Methods of assessments

  1. Written first midterm exam 25%
  2. Written second midterm exam 25%
  3. Written final exam 50%
