Overview

· Determination of clinical signs of infection in fish populations that live in nature or in confined spaces such as aquaculture.

· Identify common diseases of fish using appropriate diagnostic procedures

· Know the most important causes of fish diseases and how to distinguish them.

Intended learning outcomes

A.1

Student is to grasp the contemporary methods of controlling pests (IPM) which is based on prevention, monitoring, identification and combing different means of pest control, relaying mainly on physical, biological and cultural control and as little as possible on chemical control.

A.2

Student is to be familiar with the different aspects of benefit or harm (economical importantce) of insects, and how to make the most out of beneficial insects while keeping harmful ones at bay with as little as possible economical & ecological costs.

Teaching and learning methods

· Theoretical lectures.

· Laboratory lessons.

· Two field visits.

· Entomological collection (each student collects, preserves and classifies a collection of insect samples).
