Overview

The Human Anatomy course involves the study of the structure of the human body including a gross and microscopic study of tissues and organ systems listed in the course outline. All major human organ system are completed by the completion of this course.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

1- State the goals of studying Anatomy.

2- Use anatomical terms in lieu of layman’s terms.

3- Know the anatomical locations of the different organs with respect to their systemic organization.

Mental skills:

1- Explain the functions of the different organs.

2- Discuss the rationale behind any anatomic abnormalities of the human body.

3- Cite, summarize and analyze the current findings and researches related to Anatomy.

Scientific and professional skills:

1- Relate the goals of studying Anatomy to the Nursing profession.

2- Perform the different activities and experiments with confidence and correct skills.

3- Perform experiments with a professional approach.

General skills

1- Involve themselves in community activities by educating them and removing the misconceptions of the community about their knowledge on human anatomy

2-Point on the specific anatomical locations and body cavities using their own bodies

3-Correctly move the body parts in accordance to the dictate of the instructor.

· Appendages of skin.

Skeletal system (bone & cartilage)

· Definition of bone & cartilage.

· Parts of skeleton (axial & appendicular)

· Types & classification of bone & cartilage.

· Certain features of bones (elevation,depression,opening).

Body joint, different types:

· Definition & function of different types of body joints.

· Classification & type of joints.

· General structure & example of each.

· Brief mention of some common disorders related to joints.

Body muscles:

· Definition & function of muscle.

· Types & Classification of muscles.

· Attachment of skeletal muscle (origin,insertion).

Cardiovascular system:

· Definition & function of CVS.

· Anatomy of heart, artery, vein.

· General information about blood circulation.

Lymphatic system:

· Definition & function of lymph & lymph nodes.

· Lymph vessels & lymph node.

· Lymphatic aggregations.

Digestive system:

· Definition & function of digestive system.

· Parts of alimentary canal (anatomical location).

· Accessory organs.

Genitourinary system:

· Definition & function of urinary & genital systems.
