Overview

This course provides opportunities for actual hospital experiences to ensure that competencies are developed in the nursing care management of clients with problems in neurologic, eye, ear, nose, and throat, musculoskeletal and cellular aberration. This exposure also gives the Fourth year students opportunities to practice leadership roles and managerial abilities as they are given the chance to assume the role of a Head Nurse and as a Clinical Instructor.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

1- Discuss various nursing procedures and the application to nursing

2- Recognizes nursing responsibilitiesRelated to the practice of the nursing profession based on the standards and competencies as well as the legal and ethical aspects

3- Describe the various nursing procedures as applied to nursing practice

4- Applies knowledge in suctioning and nebulization administration and naso gastric tube principles

Mental skills:

1.Discuss the specific rationales involved for every nursing procedures

2.Determine the scope of care to be given to the client in the performance of the nursing procedures

3.Distinguishes equipment and materials needed for every nursing procedures

4.Discuss some neurologic conditions

5.Determine some respiratory conditions based on proper assessment

Scientific and professional skills:

1.Discuss specific nursing interventions applicable to specific emergency case

2.Demonstrate proper positioning of patient as indicated

1. Exhibits work ethics in the care of patients and other members of the health team

2.Develop ability to deal with different kinds of client, paramedical team in care of client with cardiac, respiratory, endocrine and cancer related disorders

3.Practice aseptic technique in the operating theater and invasive procedures

4.Formulate Nursing Care Plan for client with cardiovascular conditions, respiratory problems, and other disorders

5.Develop ways to promote health teachings to patients and family members
