Overview

Nursing has a significant effect on people lives. Rapid changes continue to transform the profession of nursing and the health care system.

This course will provide opportunities for student to acquire knowledge and understanding of nursing as it was practiced years ago and comprehend present day nursing. This will prepare the students for the future by recognizing contemporary nursing practice as well as sociological and historical factors that affect nursing.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

1- Understand the evolution of the nursing profession.

2- Familiar with the history of nursing in Libya.

3- Recognize Nursing as a Profession.

4- Describe the Roles & Functions of a Nurse.

Mental skills:

1- Differentiate views given by various nursing theorists on person, health ,environment and nursing.

2- Utilize selected nursing theory and non-nursing theories in the care of clients.

3- Interpret the different nursing theories.

4- Give examples of common negligence and malpractice in the hospital setting.

Scientific and professional skills:

1- Demonstrate selected competencies under the eleven key areas of responsibilities Pertinent to nursing.

2- Apply the legal concept on the roles and responsibilities of a nurse.

3- Analyze Health as Multifactorial phenomenon.

General skills

1- Presentation of a Generated theory from the various literature readings.

2- Integrates the ethico-moral-legal standards into the actual nursing

3- Criticize the nursing theories and it’s application to modern times.

4-Design a plan of care incorporating the concepts on ethico-moral legal.
