This course provides opportunities for actual hospital experiences to ensure that competencies are developed in the nursing care management of clients with problems in oxygenation (Respiratory), fluid, electrolyte and acid base balance, inflammatory process, immunologic reactions, infection, cellular aberrations, pain and stress.
This course also provides opportunities for actual hospital experiences to ensure that competencies are developed in the nursing care management of clients undergoing preoperative, intra operative and post operative management.
Intended learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding:
1.Identify the role of the surgical unit preoperatively and postoperatively.2.Discuss the principles of Aseptic Technique
3.Discuss the different clinical disorders, its manifestations, treatment and nursing interventions in oncology and respiratory wards.
4.Review the physical assessment to be perform in various health problems
Mental skills:
1.Recognize critical areas when assessing preoperatively, intra-operatively and postoperatively2.Prioritize nursing interventions in the perioperative care of a client
3.Recognize the different nursing procedures perform to patients
4.Determine specific nursing care to meet the actual and potential problems of patient
5.Formulate a plan of care utilizing the nursing process
