This course provides opportunities for actual hospital experiences to ensure that competencies are developed in the nursing care management of clients with problems in neurologic, eye, ear, nose, and throat, musculoskeletal and cellular aberration. This exposure also gives the Fourth year students opportunities to practice leadership roles and managerial abilities as they are given the chance to assume the role of a Head Nurse and as a Clinical Instructor.
Knowledge and understanding:
1.To get acquainted with the physical set up and operating policies in the different areas in critical care2.Discuss the different clinical disorders, it’s manifestations, treatment and nursing intervention of critically ill patients
3.Understand basic information of patients in doing physical assessment and recognize common abnormalities
Mental skills:
1.Understand the procedures and rationale for basic support of adult patients2.Discuss/ review concepts in medical or surgical emergencies and other related entities
3.Identify the importance of pharmacology in dealing with critically ill patients
4.Identify patient’s care and management in caring for critically ill patients
5.Administer diligently emergency drugs for patient with immediate care
Scientific and professional skills:
1.Perform different diagnostic laboratory investigations with confidence and interpret results accurately2.Utilize and apply the nursing process in assessing and managing health need
3.Apply learned knowledge and skills in imparting health teachings to client and family
