Overview

General psychology provides students with an overview with the theories and basic terms related to the study of the mind, along with such aspects as perception, cognition and emotion. psychology is the science of academic and description that involves the scientific study of human mental functioning and behavior across the lifespan.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

1- Define Psychology, Determine the goals of Psychology in application to life process

2- Identify the specialized areas of Psychology, Determine key concepts related to Psychology.

3- Discuss many viewpoints in Psychology based on their origin.

4- Identify the use of language, intelligence and emotions in the study of behavior of a person.

Mental skills:

1- Determine the biological foundation of behavior. Distinguish the relationship of sensation, cognition, level of consciousness to behavior.

2- Identify basic principles of learning in the study of behavior.

3- Discuss language, intelligence, motivation, and personality as part of studying behaviors in Psychology.

4- Identify growth and development and it’s relation to human behavior.

5- Identify some health adjustments in stress and health and how to cope in ever changing health related behavior patterns.

Scientific and professional skills:

1- Describe overt behaviors manifested by the students depending on situations

2- Perform thorough assessment of behavior, thoughts and feelings after proper processing.

3- Respond effectively to unexpected experiences. Managing appropriate response of an individual.

4- Perform assessment in dealing with behavioral concepts in Psychology.

5- Managing nursing care in dealing with behaviors, thoughts and feelings of an individual.
