Overview

Actual application of the theories, principles and concepts of clinical nursing practice to groups of clients in varied settings to refine nursing skills in the chosen area of nursing specialization. Under Specialization 3, the students are exposed at the Mental Health facility where they can apply the learned concepts and skills in the care of clients with maladaptive patterns of behavior.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

1.Discuss various nursing procedures and the application to nursing

2.Recognizes nursing responsibilities related to the practice of the nursing profession based on the standards and competencies as well as the legal and ethical aspects

3.Describe the various nursing procedures as applied to nursing practice

4.Differentiate Types of suctioning

Mental skills:

1.Describe a patient with GIT disorder Newborn and identify any deviations from normal

2.Enumerate the diagnostic procedure for patient with GIT disorder.

3.Perform Physical assessment of the patient with GIT disorder.

4.Discuss the importance of health teaching

5.Describe the causes, clinical, symptoms, signs, investigations, treatment, of the patient with GIT problems

1.Demonstrate skills in the nursing procedures in health promotion and illness prevention

2.Integrate the concepts learned through the nursing process in the care of patient with GIT problems

3.Formulate appropriate nursing care plan for MICU patients

4.Applies knowledge in suctioning, NGT insertion and naso gastric principles
