Overview

The course is designed to give the student information on the concepts and theories of sociology, and be able to actually analyze social issues. And to apply sociological perspectives to practical situation. Students will be able to deal with society and culture.

Sociology attempts to understand the nature and problems of modern society while Anthropology deals with diversity of world culture.

Intended learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding:

1- Discuss sociology and anthropology in the nursing perspectives.

2- Differentiate between sociology and anthropology.

3- Identify and differentiate the sociological theories.

4- Identify and discuss the different cultures as to different areas.

5- Discuss the different social problems and the different factors affecting it.

6- Explain the role of Family and Religion in the society.

Mental skills:

1- Comprehend the socio-cultural aspects of the nursing profession.

2- Compare and explain the social problems of different countries and culture.

3- Identify and differentiate the social institution.

Scientific and professional skills:

1- Reconstruct and design a solution to some social problems.

2- Adopt acceptable culture.

3- Prepare health advocacy on some social issues that affects the community or the school.

General skills

1- Internalize and participate in culture discussion.

2- Practice social accepted culture change in a certain areas .

3- Seat work to write some beliefs, culture and traditions in Libya related to culture and tradition that may affect health.
