Overview

This course focuses on the basic principles of the French language, as it includes oral and written communication in various everyday situations. Therefore, material related to the basics is given priority in this course and students will gain practical tools, useful structures and vocabulary that they can use more independently in order to understand the French language. To be understood by people who speak this language, emphasis is also placed on preparing the student to join the French language department. It is hoped that this new organization of educational materials and objectives will serve the real educational transformation, which is to redirect foreign language learning towards more effective educational methods.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the semester the student will be able to:
  • Understand and use basic expressions as well as very simple phrases aimed at meeting concrete needs (introducing oneself or introducing someone).
  • Asking someone questions about them (where they live, relationships, what's wrong with them, etc.) and answering the same type of questions.
  • Understanding numbers, quantities and times.
  • Describe or introduce people, living conditions, daily activities, likes and dislikes in a short series of expressions or sentences.
  • Describe themselves and what they do as well as where they live.
  • Describe a story Recommend bit by bit with a simple list of points.
  • Describe aspects of their daily environment, eg people, places, work or school experience.
  • Introduce yourself / Find out the other's identity / Greet / Take leave / Ask and give information
