Overview

This course aims to develop the comprehension and oral expression skills of beginning students and provide them with basic language skills.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of Week 14, the student should be able to:
  • Understand specific information (e.g. places, times) in short audio recordings about everyday, familiar topics, provided the language is clear.
  • Understand familiar words and very common expressions about oneself, one's family and one's environment, concrete and direct, if people speak slowly and clearly.
  • Communicate, in a simple way, provided that the interlocutor is willing to repeat his sentences more slowly and ask simple questions on familiar topics or about what he needs immediately, as well as answer such questions.

  • Attendance is 5 marks
  • Assignments and tests, 15 marks
  • Midterm exam of 20 marks
  • Final exam (written), of 60 marks.
