Overview

Therapeutic nutrition is the science that studies the role of nutrition in various pathological conditions. It also studies the effect of food components and the importance of each component for the growth, health, and safety of the body. It also studies the different interactions between the components of food and the various organs in the body and their impact on the health of the body in the case of health and disease. Therapeutic nutrition also includes a study of The vital and physiological interactions after eating lunch also knowing the role of different cultures and the behavioral influences and habits associated with eating food, and nutrition in different pathological conditions such as kidney and liver diseases, obesity, diabetes, blood pressure, and nutritional management

Intended learning outcomes

If the student completes the course successfully, he or she will be able to:

Learn about the basics of therapeutic nutrition for each disease, and know the role of nutritional care in the prevention, treatment, coexistence with infection, and the impact of daily lifestyle.

Employ the acquired skills in following up on the patient's condition periodically with adjusting the food according to the health condition to reach him with the usual nutrition.

Distinguishes the concept of nutritional awareness of pathological conditions by knowing what is permitted and forbidden for each pathological condition and during the different stages of each disease.

Recognize the relationship between nutrition and various pathological conditions. Designs therapeutic diets for some common diseases such as digestive system diseases, obesity, diabetes, kidneys, and congenital metabolic defects

Written exams, relative weight 50%-year work, 50% final exam
