Overview

This course provides strategies to help students to improve their formal oral presentation skills. Organization, presentation style, and pronunciation will be addressed. Presentations are developed through a drafting process. Individual feedback from the instructor and class participants will be given continually throughout the course.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Learn the basics of presentation style. 2. Organize presentations and seminars. 3. Present in front of the class 4. Learn about the three main types of presentations: narrative, informative, and persuasive. 5. Assess their personal presentation skills. 6. Apply the drafting process to presentations. 7. Use visual support when presenting. 8. Work on pronunciation as it affects easy understanding by the audience. 9. Lead an audience in question and answer sessions.

Teaching and learning methods

This course is taught by using lectures. During these lectures, the student is exposed to several writings from various fields. Also, to teach this course, the instructor uses a computer and projector.

This course is evaluated by conducting a midterm exam, lecture activism, presentation, and final exam
