Overview

Grammar is one of the most important aspects that a learner needs in learning English and other living languages. It plays a pivotal role in developing basic language skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing.

This course of grammar provides students with comprehensive lessons about verbs, their types, and how to derive them from nouns and adjectives by adding appropriate prefixes and suffixes. It also deals with the structures and uses of the simple, continuous and perfect tenses in the English language (present and past) and shows the changes that occur to verbs according to the subject and tense used in these structures. In this course, students also will learn about the active and passive voice forms, how to form negative or interrogative sentences from affirmative sentences, in addition to the types of adjectives and how to order them correctly in sentences, and methods of comparison and superlative.

Intended learning outcomes

After their success in this course, students will acquire knowledge and skills represented in the ability to distinguish among the various types of verbs (such as action and stative verbs, transitive and intransitive verbs, main and auxiliary verbs) and use them correctly in sentences, in addition to explaining the structures and uses of different tenses in the English language, and analyzing the structure of Active sentences and changing them into passive sentences, which helps them write correct grammatical sentences in different tenses. This course also enables students to use negation and interrogative methods through appropriate auxiliary verbs, classify adjectives, learn how to derive them, put them in the correct order in the sentence, and use comparative and superlative methods.
