Overview

The course discusses where creative writing comes from, the various forms it has taken, and why we teach and learn the arts of fiction, poetry and creative nonfiction. It looks at creative writing in performance as public art, as literature and as an act of community. Then, students practice writing about books/films and short stories.

Intended learning outcomes

The course aims to:

1- Help students feel more confident while writing in English.

2- Introduce students to challenges of creative writing.

3- Practice writing short stories.

Classwork, homework, first exam, second exam, and final exam.
