Overview

This is an introductory course which allows students to get acquainted with the translation theory and practice for the first time. It provides students with basic ideas about the translation process, the vocabulary used and the contemporary theories set out by some scholars in thi translation theory and practice for the first time. Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course students will be able to:-

1- Analyze different types of sentences and texts.

2- Compare between different languages.

3- Discriminate and compare at the same time between L1 and L2.

4- Determine language problems that they could face while translating.

5- Analyze translation theories and related matters.

Teaching and learning methods

Mainly, teaching this course relays on two different sides, theoretical side, here the teacher will explain the information to students through lecturing by using marker and the white board, after that the teacher will make these theoretical idea practical y translating sentences and texts, also through providing students home exercises.

Methods of assessments

Midterm exam, translation activities, final exam.
