Overview

This course is concerned with the definition of environmental pollution, environmental pollutants, their sources, forms of pollution, factors affecting the distribution of pollutants, the effects of pollution on the environment and life, the impact of pollutants on public health systems, analysis of environmental hazards, and how to treat waste and prevent pollution.

Intended learning outcomes

· Definition of environmental pollution, environmental pollutants, its sources and forms of pollution

· The student should know the factors affecting the distribution of pollutants, and the effects of pollution on the environment and life

that the impact of pollutants on public health systems and their potential for genetic transmission,

· Analysis of environmental hazards, how to treat waste and prevent pollution.

Teaching and learning methods

· Theoretical lectures using aids such as illustrations, PowerPoint presentation and videos.

· Laboratory activities by conducting laboratory experiments and pickling the results.

Discussion panels for scientific reports and practical assignments for each application

Methods of assessments

Methods of evaluating students in this course: (semester work 40% and final 60%)

Semester work: divided between written midterm exams, assignments , presentations and a practical midterm exam Total 40

Practical Final Exam 10 and Theoretical Final Exam 50

Characterization, analysis and follow-up of pollutant emissions, their sources, and ways to reduce their emissions and effects. Control of toxic substances in the environment - Environmental controls for sewage and industrial waste - Rules and procedures for controlling hazardous waste based on the executive regulations of the environment - Islam and environmental protection from pollution, environmental security, environmental awareness and education - legislative systems for environmental protection
