Overview

It is one of the compulsory courses for students in the sociology program. The social work course is concerned with introducing the student to rural sociology (its definition, nature, importance), its history, the development of interest around it, and its theoretical trends.The student also gets acquainted with the rural community (its definition and characteristics), the development of rural settlements, rural-urban migration and its effects.

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student will be able to remember the concept of rural sociology, its nature and importance, the definition of rural society, its characteristics and the development of rural settlement patterns.And to explain the theoretical trends in rural sociology, describe urban-rural migration and its effects, and analyze course topics.

Teaching and learning methods

Teaching the course is based on theoretical explanation using the blackboard, calligraphy, and discussion.

Methods of assessments

The class work score represents 40% of the final total, divided by 30% for the written midterm exam, 5% for the oral exam, 5% for the activity, and the remaining 60% for the final exam
