Overview

The course of religious sociology is one of the compulsory courses for students in the sociology program. Studying this course is a prerequisite, which is the course of sociology of literature, code SE242. The course of religious sociology is concerned with introducing the student to the sociology of religion in terms of its definition, importance, and applied fields. Understanding and comprehending the social foundations of religious phenomena such as worship (fasting and prayer), and for the student to know the relationship between religion and society.And that the student recognizes the relationship of religious sociology with other sciences

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student will be able to distinguish between the sociology of religion and religion and understand the most important religious manifestations. The student will also be able to compare between religion and culture, or the student will be able to analyze the religious phenomenon. We will be able to draw conclusions.

Teaching and learning methods

Teaching the course is based on theoretical explanation using the blackboard, calligraphy, and discussion

Methods of assessments

The class work score represents 40% of the final total, divided by 30% for the written midterm exam, 10% for discussion and mini-scientific research, and the remaining 60% for the final exam.
