Social Problems is one of the compulsory subjects in sociology department that interests in Familiarizing the students with social problems and its nature, recognizing the scientific study for the social problems and he / she studies some problems such as ( unemployment - divorce - children work - drugs...etc )

To instill the awareness, acquiring him / her good knowledge to encounter the problems. The course helps the students to identify the social problems that are more important and it aims to assist the students to deal with problem studying methodologies to enable him / her to find suitable solutions to these problems .

This course includes:

1- Recognizing the social system characteristics in different points of view.

2- The effective factors in defining the social problem .

3- The nature of social problems and its functions. 4- Globalization problems and environmental problems.

Intended learning outcomes

The student will be able to distinguish between the social problems and how to encounter them, differentiate between social problems & personal problems, how to overcome in the society.

Teaching and learning methods

1- Mid-term activities 40% divided into 30 % for written exam and 10% for research & discussions.

2- 60 % for final exam.
