Overview

This course aims to improve listening and speaking skills for students in the first semester. They will engage in speaking and listening by watching to different types of topics in presentations and PPT slides. In this level students will be able to speak about everyday English language, social and practical topics.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student must be able to:

1. Use expressions that show polite behavior through different texts based on the course content.

2. Communicate orally in English.

3. Employ his/her knowledge of the key features of effective conversation

4. Improve his/her speaking and listening skills in English being introduced to learning methods.

5. Explain by understanding the text of the conversation in English when listening to it

6. Discusses the difficulties encounters in listening and speaking in English and trying to solve them

7. Improve his/ her language and expressions and increase their vocabulary in the English language in a variety of ways

Teaching and learning methods

The course will be presented to the student through lectures, panel discussions, or assignments and exercises, discussion and dialogue

Methods of assessments

Methods of evaluating students in this course:

(class work 40% & final 60%)

Class work is divided into written midterm, assignments and tasks.

Final exam is in a form of written exam.
